my bf has just brought me a new set of wardrobes, drawes, and dressing table for my bedroom at my house (although he is there half the time) he has speant over 200pound and i wanted to make him a thankyou meal something that is quite cheap but not tacky he will eat anything except chicken i want to make him something special cheers

Chilli con carne is easy peasy!

Dress up an ordinary meal and it will look much more posh


Starter - de-seed cherry tomatoes, fill with cream cheese and chives. Serve 5 on a plate sprinkled round the edge with paprika and cut a pitta bread into strips and hold over a gas flame to char for 10 secs. Cost - �2


Main - fresh salmon - cook skin down in hot butter and olive oil for 3 mins til crispy. turn off heat, turn over salmon and let it finish cooking. Serve with new potatoes and green beans with a herb butter Cost �4/�5


Dessert - make a choc mousse - melt bar of dark choc in a bowl over hot water in a pan. Stir in 2 egg yolks. Whisk egg whites to stiff peaks. Stir a tsp of Cointreau into the melted choc, fold in the whisked whites carefully, and pour the mix into 2 glasses - clean the edges if you dribble. Set in fridge 2 hrs. Top with double cream with orange zest stirred into it, and a sprinkle of cocoa on top. Cost �2


Nice crisp whit wine, finish with a good coffee and choc truffle treats and have fun.
