I don't think it will be the money spinner they think it will be. Initially it may be but when we get used to the fact that there are no promotions or relegations then people and TV will lose interest.

I think the fan backlash will stop many clubs from joining, but as the LIV golf break away has shown, the promise of some filthy lucre speaks volumes.

The ESL is nevertheless almost certainly doomed. It foundered  last time due to fan and political pressure, not on legal grounds. And this ruling AIUI doesn't even address that issue, only the -rather dubious - ruling that it was illegal for UEFA etc to ban it. It doesn't begin to examine the ins and outs of any league itself.

The issue the super leaguers have is trying to do this with existing clubs and all the traditions they go with them. Maybe they'd be better creating their own teams
