Christmas ads and all things Christmas should be banned until the middle of November
Enjoy!
You'd be doing the same if you ran a business, it's how they try to stay afloat.
Yes, the damn things seem to be spouting up on both TV and radio.
Xmas is December .
...but, but, shouldn't we all be preparing for Christmas now? Saving our pennies, and all that? Preparing for the festive season, stocking up on stockings and stuff?
We gave up Christmas some years ago now apart from a few cards to close relatives and friends that we rarely see because they live far from us. We stopped presents last year We just have a meal we both enjoy, because we are not keen on Christmas dinners. My son and wife go down to the beach with a picnic. We get together with them during the Christmas period with a casual buffet lunch. I so enjoy ignoring Christmas. Roll on January and snowdrops.
Hey come on we haven't had Thatchers Day yet.

Lottie ///We gave up Christmas some years ago///

I think a lot of people feel they would like to give up on it.
The expense and the hard work it often entails is what is on a lot of peoples minds.
There will always be some who think it is worth it, but there will be those who dread it.
Funnily enough, I was reading an article the other day about people already panic buying turkeys blah blah blah, and someone replied “good!! That’s made my mind up for me!!” She then went on to explain that she often said to her husband why did she spend half Xmas day in the kitchen cooking this gargantuan meal that most of the kids didn’t eat for a start, and the amount of washing up was absolutely horrendous. So this year - she’s doing a buffet!! Just laying the table out with various cheeses, biscuits, breads, nibbles, mince pies etc, and everyone can just help themselves whenever they want, and as often as they want, and I thought hmmmmmm, you’ve almost persuaded me to do the same lol!!!
I stick to December for Christmas - with the exception of family and friends oversees (Australia etc.) to whom I post calendars early so as to get cheap rates. I've just received our village calendars today. That's it though. I haven't seen or heard any adverts as yet, thank goodness.
My build up to Chrismas has always been
Change clocks , Thatchers day, Guy Fawkes
then Christmas
Smow, that seems like a good idea.
Sorry to digress but, how are you?
Barsel - it’s a tempting thought isn’t it!! add some. Old meat, pickles etc……..
I’m still in hospital as a few things aren’t quite as high as they should be but feeling much better and hoping to escape tomorrow! - Thanku for asking xx
*cold meat lol! Not old meat - omg predictive text!!!
Christmas to me is casual shopping in November for gifts , put a stop to it November 30th, causally get freezer stuff such as raspberry roulade, lemon cheesecake , Turkey crown , no mad dash for anything as most of it will be done online anyway , between Christmas and NY we’ll rent a cottage for the 5 of us up in rural Northumberland for 5/6 nights, New Year’s Eve will be spent just the two of us ordering a Chinese’s meal and either listen to classical music or watch tv if there’s anything worth watching

Barrel, Obviously we did the whole Christmas thing when our son was a child and loved doing it. Then as he grew up and our parents were no more, it just became a chore and stressed me out. We realised that the stress wasn't worth it. Son and wife feel the same and like long walks and a beach picnic far more than Christmas.
stuff. I might feel different if Christmas was still as it used to be and only started
In December? Now it seems to be three months of the year and it is just spend, spend, spend!
Whoops Barrel!!!???
