Does this mean everyone can go out ? I received a letter from the NHS dated 2nd April which says I have to stay at home for at least 12 weeks from the date of the letter which takes us to June 25th.I'm sure my family members will be arranging to meet up next week but will I have to wait another 3 weeks before I can join them?

The NHS can't tell you that you 'have' to do anything.
They simply suggest you do stuff to maximise the chances of you continuing in good health.
Why 12 weeks?

I had a phone consultation with a doctor this morning and am now booked in for a procedure on Sunday. Not a single question about social distancing.
The lockdown isn't lifted on Monday. There are some slight easements but many restrictions remain in place. I haven't read the actual legislation yet but I understand that from Monday up to six people can meet in an outside public place or in a private garden.

I imagine the advisory letter you were sent was because you were identified as being in a vulnerable group. That is advise, not legislation, and I guess you should stick to that.
^^^ I don't normally correct minor typos (especially my own) but "advice" and "advise"? Perlease !!!!
Advice and guidance is constantly changing. The information the NHS based their April letter on will have changed with all the new data.
But specifically, our R number which is our reinfection rate, is now where we want it to be. You should try and consult your doctor if you are 70 or over.

Gromit I spoke to my GP a few weeks ago and he said I may have to stay in until they find a cure, but there's no way I'm waiting for that and I told him so. The problem is my immune system is too low and as soon as I have further treatment for my arthritis, it will go even lower, but I wasn't thinking about mingling with lots of people, I just want to see my family, perhaps at a nice park.
I don't really have problems with our current neighbours/lodgers.
One side is a couple with two sons in early twentiesMum and Dad are industrious and their presence sends me quite euphoric on warm barmy evenings when their two lads and their mates puff the herbal substance in the 'games room' at the bottom of their garden. :-) Mum and Dad are kind and considerate but Dad can't cook BBQs for toffee and we had to rescue about 20 of memsahib's winter coats and fleeces off the washing line. We thought they were about to eat burnt inner tubes judging by the smell and smoke wafting over the garden.Personally I preferred the 'weed'. Apparently, according to wifey's admonitions hubby hadn't got the charcoal hot enough before his fatty ribs were ready to cook. I could of tipped him off. We use Gas. ( don't sniff it though).
Other side is occupied by three middle-aged people. Two Northern lads and a Eastern European llady. All in work.
The landlord is a weasel and rarely seen. Usual problem. Lack of maintenance in the garden . Memsahib ventures into the garden, with their permission to weed their garden when coming into our garden. The lads are embarrassed and state they would do it but the landlord locks gardening tools in the garage which is falling down. If I were a supergrass I would of reported said weasel for misuse of Vehicle Trade Plates as he fails to pay VED and undoubtedly is not entitled to the plates,Hey Ho. On the whole we have had worse neighbours when the actual owners lived along side us. No real complaints. Life could be worse. :-)

Wrong post retro.:-)
oooops. my apologies. Wrong thread. Typing in the garden with the sun on the screen. No booze involved. Honest.
Barsel, I think that only you can decide whether any relaxations of guidance/advice/recommendations whatever make you feel brave enough to venture out.

I believe you, thousands wouldn't. :-)

Mamya I don't feel brave about going out at all and I feel the longer I stay in, it will get worse. One of my main worries is that I might get stopped by the police asking me if I have permission to be out or have they stopped checking up on people now?
I doubt the Police would stop you, but all you have to say is that you are off to the park to meet someone.
If you have a decent size garden could your family not come to you?

Is that allowed now shoota?
After Monday - up to six people in a public place or garden as I understand it.
As long as those attending are symptom free and havn't been in contact with any sufferers you will be OK I'm sure.
The advice for those who are "clinically extremely vulnerable" has not been changed and they must remain shielded until at least the end of June.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19#staying-at-home-and-shielding

From SHOOTA's link, "Those who are shielding should continue to do so. The Government recognises the toll this is taking on groups that have been asked to shield and hopes to say more soon on what further support we can provide."

Thanks for that, If my family come to me, I don't even have to go out as I have a patio door that leads onto the back garden so I can sit just inside. Can't wait to see my family after all these weeks.
