Shame that Tigger. I remember going to see them at Bangor Uni way back in the early 70s. Mental night, and I was the oldest there by a mile despite only being in my early 20s. R.I.P Dave Greenfield. My favourite track in your honour.

Cheers :o)

I got into them after Golden Brown. Must've been 9 or 10 at the time.
RIP David
Yes, not quite 'no more heroes any more' yet but another one gone. I bough Rattus Norvegicus back in 1977 and bought most of their stuff for the next few years. Then I saw them around 10 years ago and Dave was still fantastic. He was a youngster compared to Jet Black who is 81 now.
I think Hanging Around and No More Heroes were favourites, Togo, but Dave's keyboards were the hallmark of most tracks. They had some not very PC lyrics now but we didn't seem to notice then
Aww that's sad news. The Stranglers were among the first bands I loved as a youngster, alongside XTC and Madness. Like FF said, if this news had been about Jet Black, it wouldnt wouldn't have been much of a surprise, but Dave seemed in fine fettle.

I'll crack Peaches out later for Mamyalynne's thread in tribute.
RIP Dave.
Sad news...
RIP, Dave

Haha........ I still don't notice.
oh tish, there goes the charabanc.... :-(
Grip.
//Grip//

But the money's no good...
That's really sad, he was an excellent musician and his keyboards were a distinctive part of the Stranglers' sound.
Sad news, RIP Dave.
I just watched this version of Grip that The Steanglers did with Simple Minds. Greenfield's keyboard work is stunning.

Sad news. A great musician
RIP David

Golden Brown always reminds me of the four months I did at a residential college at the start of 1982. Another great record that sadly only got as high as No 2 in the charts.

It amazes how some of the greatest songs only got to number 2. Ultravox and Vienna is another such travesty!
Many more besides those two Tigger. Waterloo Sunset, My Generation, Brown Sugar, Fairytale of New York, Common People, Sit Down, Bittersweet Symphony...
Waltz in black ,a masterpiece to me.R.I.P. friend.

Definitely Mozz. All iconic tunes.
