Went into Sainsburys yesterday for bits and bobs, walked past the hot counter, and the chips looked nice, and I was just a bit peckish, never normally bother with such. Well I asked for some chips to have a nibble at, on asking for them, the young girl looked at me and said, ( do you mean the potatoe wedges) now there was only these on show along with a show of chicken, so I said, ( do they taste like chips) she looked at me a bit odd :0) OK I'll have wedges. Question, am I just down right common, and need to get my act together, or was this an EU directive. :0)

This happened to us in Poland, it was bitterly cold and we all went in this Irish pub that wasn’t , asked for a bowl of chips and the young Polish waitress told us in broken English, there was none but we could have wedges , hohoho x
I quite like a nice wedgie myself...
Wedges are usually cooked in the oven, chips are usually fried.
I like both, wedges are supposedly a bit healthier having a larger surface area but who cares really, have what you fancy.
I'm having what I fancy too much. After Xmas - Slimming World - here I come.

I know shoota, but if you don't look after your cash they will soon take it off you. The thing is the likes of Sainsburys are fighting for business yet the big café near me very few people use it. One reason may be is their to expensive, in the café they are charging 40p for one mince pie, among other silly prices for cakes, instore you can buy six for a pound, where's the business brains in Sainsburys??
Home fries, curly fries, chunky chips, wedges, lightly spiced, oven chips, any more?
French fries

I'm sure some manufacturer will invent another take on the spud.
French fries, pseudo chips.
We asked for an extra tea bag in Sainsburys cafe as the tea was too weak, "of course" they said, found out later they charged us 40p for it!

We take our own now and slip it in the tea pot.
Take your own biscuits for a dunk.
Teacake44, I bought a couple of lovely Danish pastries in M and S then went across the road into Costa with them for a cup of coffee, much cheaper than the hideous Costa prices.
I'm a bit wary of ordering a pot of tea, I tend to check the water level.
Value for money and all that, but being charged 40p for an extra teabag is ridiculous.
I used to like going to the Littlewoods cafe for my breakfast. It was 6 items for a set price. My usual was 4 tomatoes on 2 slices of bread. One day the girl refused to give me that as she said ‘It’s not a breakfast, is it?’ I never tried again.
Toast, not bread.
I thought that wedges had the skin left on, not peeled.
