Well a chippie has opened round the corner from me so decided to give them a try and got a fish.

When I opened the paper I couldn't see the fish as it broke up into a million pieces - it was appalling - not going to be back there. No way Hosay.

Why not get cod or haddock next time?
Never Mind the Pollocks ...
Question Author
Talbot it was a cod - when they put it in the paper it was a whole fish and then it crumbled. I can guarantee this chippie will not do well.
Oh, I thought you said it was a palling...I assumed that was one of those dodgy contaminated Asian fish.
You need a herring aid, tablet ...

LOL never heard of a palling fish but there ya go.

this post is all a load of pollocks.
You were codded. (fooled) But it could be as you have said ...'a load of pollocks'.......... Meaning of Cod., Archaic... The scrotum.

I think you had a Cod Piece. ....What a lot of balls I am saying.

Hans.
You are a dab hand with the words, Hans......

Codding was used in the North West to mean kidding, not much heard since my Aunt died!
Ask for rock eel or huss as its known next time. The bone in the middle will keep it all in one piece . sorted!
why didn't you take it back ? thats what I would have done, show them ? surely they would have changed it for you ? just asking.
Jenny one has just opened near my daughter and had the same reviews and prices are high . Don't suppose it's the same one in Leicestershire .
If someone gives you bad service/goods you owe it to them to let them know. How they react determines whether you ever deal with them again.

how I determine is I will always give a place one shot - if it is not up to standard - I won't be back. As somebody there said you need to go to a chippie run by a family concern. This lot looked pretty clueless. Since scampi was on the menu I curiously asked was it breaded or battered.

I lipread one guy saying to the other - "what's scampi and the other shouted oh it's breaded". Ah well.
JJ: That would of scared the life out of me - I'd of been straight back out the door!
Question Author
Yes Dizmo - it was pretty strange as there were a cuppla of chips on top of it and when I removed the chips - literally there was no "whole" fish - just broken bits that clung to the chips.
