1. Set in a type, odd, but there's money in it (3,6) _A_ / P_C_E_

I initially thought that it might be hip pocket until the A in the three letter word precluded that solution, but I'm now tending towards pay packet. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks. :)

Set = PACK (as in cards) in ATYPE ('odd' = anagram)

So you're correct with PAY PACKET honeythief!

Hi honeythief, I think pay packet is right

It's an anagram of 'a type' and the word 'pack' meaning a set :)

I thought 'pay packet' was correct, but I wasn't too sure  how it was derived from the clue. Now that you've explained it, it makes sense. Cheers. :)
