thanks piggling. I had thought of RIME but I thought it meant FROST and not MIST. I'm using that anyway. Thanks again.

Rime is frost. Dont you like my mire? Whats with the new thread. You can add to your own you know.
you could be right - but my mum always uses it for sea mist & she's usually very accurate (pedantic!) with her vocabulary
grasscarp - doesn't mire mean swamp?
PIggling Its been answered now as Haze. When I suggested Mire, I was trying to fit what I thought were correct letters and I was thinking of mist and mire which often get mentioned together in literature. It isnt a synonym so I apologise.
Would 'Haar' fit with the letters you have?
