The chip shops where I live serve orange battered chips, have done for as long as I can remember, some still fry in dripping.
Just what you need...carbohydrate covered in carbohydrate.
My dad used to be a long distance lorry driver and he used to tell us he had eaten fish and chips cooked in Beer.
