I know this is happening but I can't bear to look. Such magnificent creatures.
I can’t look either. Hate those people.

Sorry Ladybirder, I sympathise with your feelings. Perhaps I should have added some information so here it is: the link is to a charity for a rescue dog organisation which is trying to save them (the dogs apparently sniff out poachers, with much success), nothing horrible to look at on the link page.

Quote "Just 10 dogs have helped arrest hundreds of poachers, saving countless elephants being murdered for their ivory."

Ditto naomi
As equally guilty as the poachers are the businesses who buy the tusks and produce trinkets from them.
Can't open the link. Two things - I would quite happily kill the evil poachers and Canary, it seems from what the link says, that dogs are saving them ? How does that equate with your disdain of dogs and their owners, as you often rant about on threads ??

Nobody's perfect
Is that the best you can do ??
the main market is China. The Chinese have more money than poor Africans so in effect they hire them to kill elephants.

If I was a poor African, would I resist their money? Possibly.
Thank you for taking the trouble to explain Canary.

Sorry burley, I'm just not interested in your sad attempts to attack my outlook. Your question was pointless and irrelevant to the thread.
Still not a good enough answer, you are obviously a dog hater (and not too keen on owners too by all accounts), except when it suits you and I doubt it won't be long before you have yet another pop at dogs, who I WILL always defend. The word 'hypocrite' springs to mind ...

Surely these are working dogs, quite different to the pet dogs Canary dislikes?

Personally I love dogs and its great to see them getting the poachers.

I would say they are more guilty, because they create the demand.

If there was no demand for ivory, there would be no money in killing elephants, and the entire slaughter would stop.
Damn savages......etc
They’re all guilty. None is better than the next.
It is a worthy cause to donate to save the elephants from poachers who are out for profit know and do not care about the elephants future.
Wildlife reserves such as Kariega in SA (which we've visited) have very successful breeding programmes but they're not stopping the overall decline in numbers.
^Others likewise.
