I shall try for a little sleep soon, not had one yet this night/morning. I was waiting to see what news you had first. I would have been more than fuming in your shoes. So much for you being ready 2 hours before hand.

i will sort this out and phone the orthopedic team today to see if they have an early appointment. As i fear this has set me back by months.

Morning emmie, I've seen smow's thread and grrrr. If I was you, I'd call in and nail the top management of your ambulance service and explain what happened - and then say, 'this is not so much to complain but can I ask you to lean on Consultant X and get them to arrange a very early appointment as in next week - and assuming your crew will be able to get to me with extra time to be able to make the appt this time.'
