If you live in Holland or Norfolk it is all you need. Or if you want a light weight maintenance free commuter bike.

The next bike I get will have a few gears to help me negotiate gentle hills.
Single speed bikes look to be for the young and fit.
Not thinking of an electric one Sandy? Very helpful set up for the less athletic amongst us. I keep looking and thinking ... "that would suit me in the Summer". Bit pricy still. The costs were coming down nicely until the damned pandemic mangled the gears of the Global economy. No pockets in a shroud though.
Didn't gness get an electric bike a few years ago?
I wonder if it's still in one piece?

I think the price of a basic electric bike is about twice what I was thinking of paying for an ordinary one. But worth considering.
with all the power cuts on at the moment, how many electric cars and bikes are unusable.. side fact: my wheelie went on a speed awareness course yesterday.
I was following a guy on a penny farthing today, pedalling like fury.

I don't think they have any gears either.

As far as the latter is concerned, the answer is very few , most can proceed on pedal power alone.
