Vomiting Dog
22 Answers
For the first time ever my little dog can't seem to keep her food down, she seems OK in every other way -her poops are normal. She threw up her last night's meal before bed-time & has been sick again in the night.
Being a holiday the only vet available is an emergency one, & some distance away, Any advice welcome please.

We'll try starving her a bit today & hope it goes. She has a nasty habit of drinking out of puddles, even though we are in the country she may have ingested something unpleasant.
Bob: The day before yesterday she had some leftover beef in with her meal which had been cooked in a sauce containing mushrooms, the mushrooms were removed but something of them would have been in the gravy, perhaps that might have been it.
If anyone is interested this is her, very pretty & popular in the village, all the children want to stroke her;

We are just giving her a very small quantity of boiled rice with a tiny scrap of white chicken every few hours & she has been OK so far today.
Her nose is cold & everything else seems to be in order, so tomorrow we can give her more of her normal diet I think.
We feel really bad about starving her though :0(
Thanks for inquiring.

Khandro, she has the kindest face, a gorgeous looking dog.
My vet recommended plenty of fresh water for dogs' sickness and small meals of cooked, plain white rice with some plain cottage cheese, next day similar with cooked, flaked coley and third day similar with poached, plain chicken. Thankfully they have always recovered with this diet.
I would keep her on the rice and chicken food for another 2 days to help her stomach settle, it won't harm her. Hope she is soon feeling much more her usual self.
