… and received no message of thanks, would you ask the recipient if they’d arrived?

A while ago I received a beautiful bouquet. The printed note attached said simply, ‘With love from an old friend’, but I haven’t a clue who sent them, and no one has mentioned it. All very odd.

Ah, so you got them. Good good.
To have sent them so anonymously maybe they didn't require a reply.

Curious.
Could you ask the florists who ordered them, assuming their name is showing on the card?
^ they wouldn't tell you - data protection and all that.
Was your name or address written on them? Maybe they were delivered to the wrong house?
Maybe you`ve got a secret admirer :)

There's no business name on the card, Margie, and the packaging they came in was thrown away. I've been waiting for someone to ask if they arrived - but not a word. It wasn't even a birthday or anniversary of any sort ... so no particular reason that anyone should send flowers.
Question Author
FF, they were addressed to me.
Very strange naomi …..

You may never find out.
Question Author
You could be right, Margie. The thing is, I would ask. I can't understand why whoever sent them hasn't.
Well if the message was easily read and understood.....it wasn't pe pe.(^_*)
If I hadn't put my name on them then I wouldn't ask if they had arrived or expect them to be mentioned...unless as in "I have a mystery, someone has sent me flowers and I have no idea who" The fun of sending stuff anonymously is keeping it anonymous.
If I'd sent them, I'd have to know that they'd been delivered ... though how I could have done that with any subtlety, I don't know (that's in light of the wording on the card, I couldn't be so enigmatic.)
mind you. I have got a friend who has....well not a common name...but one that loads of others seem to have. She gets all manner of emails and parcels not meant for her.
A lot of the companies I've used to send flowers have let me know via text or email that they have been delivered. Maybe this person knows you've got them but wants to remain a secret admirer.
Did you maybe fall out with someone ages and ages ago and they are trying to make amends, but not yet ready to reveal who they are?
Question Author
Togo, :o)

Neveracrossword, I would want to know they'd been delivered too.

Woofgang, they were addressed to me. I thought the florist had left the sender's name off by mistake. I don't like the idea that whoever sent them thinks I just haven't bothered to say 'thank you'.
Do you think Jim has got hold of your address? Haha
Question Author
Prudie, all very odd.

Margie, can't think of anyone that's happened with.
Question Author
Haha! Could be, Prudie. :o)
