Are you assuming the police knew th father was a drug dealer before the dreadful incident "
The Police are not as stupid as they sometimes seem to make out.

However Plod knowing about something and being able to act are two different things.

Either way this is a terrible murder.

plod may not be aware but a pound to penny someone in authority was, probably social services.
Death by evil hands.

RIP Alesha.
I am not sure you should prejudge this to make a direct link between her father's drug dealing and her rape and murder. Particularly as the trial is ongoing and particularly as the Defence seems to be "wasnt me, was some woman".
It’s not too much to ask that we all wait and see what the courts decide .
On the basis of the evidence you have provided in the link, I think she lived with her father because he was her father. Him saying in February this year that he sold cannabis to the accused is not grounds for police or social workers to have removed her from his care before July last year. Even a conviction for the supply of a small amount would not be sufficient justification for removing a child from her birth parents, to be placed in the care of another. Am I not right in thinking we have had at least one Prime Minister who had smoked cannabis, another whose husband is involved in its production and sale, and moves already underway to widen its use for a range of medical conditions?

I like to think I am fairly liberal, but I would never advocate almost unchecked powers for 'right on' social workers just because they don't approve of something a parent does. Should we fill our care system with children whose parents once drove too fast after missing a speed limit sign, who smoked too close to the door of a pub, or bought a kitchen knife and were stopped by the police on the way home from Waitrose or Poundland? I know I am supposed to turn a blind eye to child abuse because I am not allowed to use the word '***', but I feel positively gammon when I realise how much power you suggest I should be allowing social workers.
the isle of Bute seems a cauldron of simmering evil .....
Not that it makes any difference overall tragedy of the case, but I think the child was spending a vacation with her father.
She was TonyV, but we dont let a little thing such as fact get in the way.........
Barmaid somehow doesn't feel appropriate for a laugh out loud, so will be surpressed .....
