23 across - Pay regiment introducing one French price (10)

I suspect remunerate is the answer as I have R?M?N?R?T? and can see one French price being une rate, but is regiment represented by rem?

remunerate
Reme is a regiment but....?
Regiment =REME
one French= un
price = rate
ah reme + un + rate
Yet another poorly-written clue?
It's not so bad
"regiment introducing one French" = rem un e
Plus price = rate = remunerate
Even though it's been explained, I still think that it's a poor clue. If REME is supposed to be 'introducing' something, then it should be at the beginning of the answer, not spread around inside it.
remunerate
I read "introducing" as introducing "un" inside it.
Introducing rerers to one French

Jeez, I'm so stupid. I was taking one as "une" rather than "un", leading me to miss competely REME, who only happened to be the other regiment in Girdwood Barracks when I was in the TA. I really should shoot myself some days.
It could mean "introducing" un rate into REME.
I really must take my happy pills more often!
Which would not make sense.Surely it parses as rem un e rate
Now Answerbank is letting me play. That is how I got it Danny.

But while i'm on, can you help parse 15a
