If the money is so She ite why pick that career? get a job you like instead of holding the unwell public to ransom. Disgusting tools should be ashamed of themselves. Impose the already generous rise and fire those that don't go back.

I just think they should be forced into having talks, both sides and not stop until they sort something out.  As it stands one side say they wont hold talks unless strikes are called off and the other wont stop strikes unless the other agree to talks.

They've been offered a more than generous rise, they already had 10.3% in Sept 23, they now want an inflation busting 35%. The 10.3 was too much if you ask me.

And once you've sacked those who won't bend to your command Tora, how do you replace a decimated workforce needing highly skilled individuals?

Question Author

Well is there is a shortage after that then market forces will push up wages naturally. Supply and demand dear boy. My guess is that most of them will get rude awakening if the looked for other jobs and quickly realise what a good thing they are on already. You have to call the bluff of these people.

if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. we often bemoan the state of the nhs and yet also moan when those who actually work in it tell us what they need to do a better job.

"Well is there is a shortage after that then market forces will push up wages naturally"

what do you think the shortage period would be like

Highly irresponsible.  The medical profession used to generate respect automatically but no more.   I look at that lot and despair at the fact that I have to trust them with my health.

That's quite a gamble to bet people's lives on. An NHS which is already struggling with staffin overnight loses a further chunk of it's workforce may well be hearing the final nail in it's coffin. This isn't the miners Tora, this is people's lives at risk.

These strikes are politically motivated.  There's no honour in that.

indeed. the trouble with "leaving it to the market" is that markets are inherently volatile. ok when you're talking about consumer goods but not something with inelastic demand like health services. the market needs to be kept out of health... unfortunately governments of all stripes have failed to do that.

untitled: "if you pay peanuts you get monkeys." - I agree but they are all on well above average wage, they can't live like Elon Musk I grant you but hardly peanuts. They get £32-37k in training FGS!

mozz: "That's quite a gamble to bet people's lives on. " - what like strinking for a week?

that's actually just below the median average for full-time workers in the UK

mozz: "This isn't the miners Tora, this is people's lives at risk." - Yes and they are planying politics with peoples lives, if we give in now, next year they'll want a Florida holiday villa each. These are the new "miners" and they need to be crushed, oh for TGL now. This is about union power not wages they are already on plenty. Tell me what other profession gets at least £32k even when training?

What on earth has happened to the  best Nationa health Service in the world That TTT used to shout about.lol🤣

Question Author

10:57 Show me where I have ever said that?

//what like strinking for a week?//

Striking for a week is one thing, what you're suggesting could cause long lasting and possibly permanent damage to the NHS.

Question Author

No mozz because they know they are on a good thing as it is. Very few of them will leave, we must call their bluff. They are on at least £32k even while training. It'll take retraining in another job and I doubt they'd get anything like that straight away.

Or they'll leave the NHS and either head to a private healthcare provider or a different country where the cost of living is more in line with the money they receive.

I bet Sqad would never have gone on strike!
