When I'm sober I'm a perfectly civil, affable bloke.

However, when I'm drunk, I'm a f**king ****.

Why is this?

They say you lose your control with drink: maybe you are actually a f**cking **** normally but just control it better. People like you shouldn't drink as it spoils it for the rest of us.

This is bizarre - I have a mate who is the nicest bloke you could possibly want to meet - sober. However, when he's had a drink, he can go one of two ways, he can be a happy drunk (which, thankfully, I am) or a violent animal. When he is the latter, we have had to physically drag him from the pub in the past. As he has got older, it has become less and less frequent, thank gawd, plus I think it helps that over the years we have learnt to spot the tell tale signs early and can, generally, stop it (by leaving the pub for a curry or other such distraction).

I think the only way to avoid being a Jekyll and Hyde character with booze is to stop drinking.

In the old days, I used to drink gallons of Stella and Kronenburg which by the end of the night turned me into an agressive ahole ready to take on the world. It also leaves you with a mighty hangover in the mornings. Nowadays, I drink either quality not quantity (thats over priced cloudy beers to you) and I'm much better. Having said that, I do subscribe to the theory that if you are not happy in your everday life, your worst side comes out when you are drunk.

Probably because it's your true nature and sobriety helps you to keep it in check.

you should also look at what you drink.  my boyfriend was a right pain after a few beers but when he stopped drinking the loopy juice - aka stella artois - he had no problems.

I am a perfectly normal woman who knows that i turn into an aggresive monster if i get a whiff of whiskey!

try cutting out certain drinks or change the brand of lager you drink until you find your 'demon drink'.

try not to get totally drunk- you might do something you regret

Did I used to go out with you :o) seriously though, agree with above about checking what you drink - we call stella 'wife beater' and i've been a barmaid for many years, the stronger larger can make nice men go bad!

You may also want to look if you have any underlying problems or issues that you haven't resolved, these may come out when you're drunk, if you can solve the issue, you may be less likely to react when drunk.

You like being a **** and drink gives you an excuse

Are you aware that you are being a f***king ******* when you have had a drink - if so you can try to do something about it.  Make yourself leave the pub / go for a walk / sit down and take a deep breath / count to 10, anything that calms you down, then think to yourself "Right, I am going to be the civil affable bloke that I am when I am sober" and ignore or walk away from any provocation to act like a ********.  Not easy, but either make yourself do it, or stop drinking and stop being a pain in the a** to your friends and other drinkers.

Echo Charliebaps - try and find out if a specific drink makes you worse.  I find that vodka makes me terribly spiteful, so I just don't have it, even though that means that I can't have any spirits as I don't like any others.

I'm female and stella and vodka (not together) can make me terribly irritable and aggressive! So I don't drink it! I do suggest you cut down on drinking!

Alcohol gives most of us more confidence, this obviously brings out an obnoxious side to you and makes you a ******! Give it up before you die a very loenly old man!

lonely even! lol...................
