If today is Wednesday, when is next Tuesday?

On Tuesday you fool!  When did you think it would be?  Friday?  Last Christmas?  In three thousand years' time?  Sydney Opera House perhaps?  The Hanging Gardens of Babylon?

GAB archbishop.  Some people might think that silly questions deserve silly answers.  TTML.  (unless I have misunderstood the meaning of "when is next Tuesday?")

It would have been better if PaulMFelix had asked, "If today is Sunday, when is next Tuesday?".

 

In other words, what is the difference between 'This Tuesday" (? the day after tomorrow) and "Next Tuesday" (? the day after tomorrow or ? Tuesday next week).

Now if PaulMFelix had said if today was tuesday when is next wednesday? I could have understood the query, as some would say tomorrow and some would say a week tomorrow.  Is that what you meant PaulMFelix?

I'd say it was 6 days away, the Tuesday after that would be Tueday week.

I have a lot of sympathy with paulmfelix.

When i was thix yes 6 yrs of age, I had it explained to me, and it seemed ambiguous then, ( or ambiguouth, I th'pose). There appears to be room for confusion as some peope reckon the week begins on Sunday and some on Monday, - and of course since this is answer bank there will be people saying no no, my week begins on Wednesday. and so on.

So for the last 50 yrs, yeth I'm 55 I have never used the phrase and always say in two days time or nine days time.

it would be wonderful if today is wednesday, then this tuesday should be in six days and next tuesday in thirteen, and other tuesdays so far in the future that they dont have an adjuective.

It would be wonderful except that there are some people who insist that this tuesday is yesterday. And others who say it is in six days. COnfusion.
