It really depends on where, how far and how long. For example, if I leave my wife to go to the corner shop, it�s usually once or twice.

Depends how long I am going for and how far I am going. I guess it's different for everyone, my partner and I live together so I don't feel the need to ring him all the time to catch up and chat, although i do tend to speak to him once or twice even when we are only at work but that's the usual "Can you get such-and-such out for tea?", "How is baby feeling?", "Won't be home til late because A,B,C", etc.

ha ha oct. I mean for hols :-) I only txt my bloke to say night when I was away for a week and he only txt twice :-) He had told me before I went away not to Waste my money. But the other girls rang their blokes every day. One girl rang hers in morning, at lunch and at night and when I said �you�re on holiday and you�re spending most of the time on the phone� she said even though they live together they ring each other 3 times a day when at work. Am I just heartless??? When they said �why don�t you ring your bloke� I explained it in a way that if I rang him I would maybe get upset and start missing him and didn�t want to spoil my holiday.

I guess it's down to the inidividual and what suits them. I went away with some girlfriends a few years ago and phoned my bloke at least once a day everyday.

I never got the habit of using the telephone just to chat - I have only ever rung somebody for a specific purpose and then kept the call as brief as possible.

I just hate chatting on the telephone.

Ah, that�s different you see. I am married = not allowed holidays away.

If I am away on business, it tends to be a once a day night-night call, as the rest of my time is taken up working. It also depends on the time zone of course. I am always of the mind that too much is a diminution in the sentimental intent.

If my girlfriend (if I had one of course) went away for a week and rang me 3 times a day, she�d either drive me bonkers by being too communicative and needy, or make me suspicious that she has a guilt complex because she has been up to something.

I try to text rather than ring. That way I can carry on picking my toenails, watching Corrie or filing my feet without him asking what the background noise is.

Also, I am very shy, and find I can be far more of a brazen hussy using the written word rather than the spoken word. I can be very rude when writing (you may have noticed) - but am very bashful on the telephone or face to face.
