Cheating or deceiving
An early meaning of the verb 'to gull' was 'to swallow whole', perhaps on the basis that seagulls do just that with their food. Thus it came to be attached to anyone who believed tall stories...ie they 'swallowed' them...and to the action of making therm do that. In other words, 'gulling' is cheating or deceiving just as Grasscarp said above. I'm not sure why he/she got only two stars!
