10 clarionst called this site,
The old people’s home on the Internet,
I thought it was funny ,but how true is it?
Anyone want to help prove her right or wrong?
I will start by saying that I will be 83 in July
calmck I don't agree. Most of the knowledge (not all obviously) accrued by over 75's is outdated. I find younger people know far more than I did at their age and are on the whole more inclusive, less racist and more concerned about their future than we ever were. The 'Good Old Days' when examined without rose coloured specs, are far less appealing.
JOrdy, you are as usual, very astute in your observations and obviously have all, if not most, of your marbles left to play with lol! x
Then you are mixing with the wrong young people then Sparkly. Come on ...have you EVER got a captive teenager to help you with your phone/internet/ etc?
Young people don't need to know about general knowledge like we used to -that's what Google is for. I would have saved hours, maybe days in the library had we had Google when I was in my teens!
72 neary 73. I have never been racist , sexist or bigotted. Nor were my parents or my grandparents. I was worldly wise and travelling overseas on my own at 18, encouraged by my parents. My good old days were very good. I don't find today's youngsters thick, but usually sadly lacking in genersal knowledge and often bigotted in their views about older people, and much more gloomy in general than we were.
I'm the same as Apg...maybe as a child of the 60s I've always been open minded and accepting of new people and ideas. My brother...11 years older than me...is the same. One of the reasons I admire him so much.
