... have just had a patient storming out of a consulting room shouting "That doctor is a tw@t - I want a second opinion".

I was very tempted to say "Yes I agree - that Doctor is indeed a tw@t" - but thought I'd better keep my opinion to myself.

It would be very unprofessional.

Did I do right?

yes certainly SALLA untill you are competent enough to conduct a valid argument with said doctor , then don't even try,
You did right but how very tempting it must have been .

Is a tw@t.
what...the - that's terribly judgemental that ALL of them are tw@ts. That's like saying that all lawyers are robbing, cheating, barstewards. OK, not my best point......... ;)

I must say that the vast majority of doctors that I know - and I do know many - are great. It's only the odd one.... same as in any profession or walk of life.

Hi Barmaid - feeling good? x
salla....not a rare occurance when the DR. doesn't give the answer that a patient wants.

Drs get used to the fact that non-medically qualified people know better than the Dr.

So what is new?

Keep out of it salla.
Feeling a bit better thanks Salla. Starting to have a much more positive outlook on life. Going to fetch the kitty cat at 5.30, can't wait to have her home!!

It was a sort-of joke sqad. The patient did indeed say that - & I can't say I have a particularly high opinion of that particular doctor, - however the patient is also a tw@t, and I
do know when to be professional, and had no real intention of saying that to him.
More than my jobsworth squire...!
There we are salla.....if you had told me that the patient was a tw@t, then that explains everything. LOL
I am afraid to say I havent ever met a good doctor or nurse in my time for that reason I havent been registered with one in years.

On top numerous family members and friends have died due to mistakes made with their care through the NHS.

I am sorry but there are no excuses for bad treatment.
years ago I saw a new doctor when I had bronchitis - he said that as I smoked it was self-inflicted and refused to give me any anti-biotics - he then booked me in for a smear test and a tetanus jab. I was livid, marched out and shouted to the receptionist 'Who's that tw@t in there pretending to be a doctor?'............she kept a straight face and said 'The same tw@t giving you a tetanus jab next week'......ooh
Question Author
Ouch! Did he jab it in extra hard?!
Question Author
the needle I mean... not the speculum.

Double ouch......
What the doctor actually says to a patient and what the patient says the doctor said, are quite often two different things.
both......
Question Author
an extra ouch!
Gawd - what a tw@t !!!!!!!
