For 6 weeks starting January he was at home recovering from an operation and it was challenging to say the least. We have a mini retirement every Monday, where we go somewhere in the sporty car and do things retired people do - I quite enjoy that, but the thought of doing that every day -no thanks.
Doing things retired people do...what’s that??
Sometimes we lie in till we decide to get up.
Sometimes we start drinking gin at 12 noon and carry on till we stop.
Sometimes we head out with no particular thoughts of where we’re going and end up somewhere we’ve never been before.
Sometimes we stay in and ‘enjoy’ each other’s company.
Sometimes we spend weeks and weeks away from home (pre pandemic) and are glad to get back because we’re exhausted.
Sometimes we sit and read our kindles/watch tv/enjoy being alive.
Mostly we enjoy doing what we want, when we want. No clockwatching, no responsibilities, the world is our oyster and we take full advantage of it.
Retirement is what you make of it.
