Perhaps they had. I've heard that the offerings on those occasions are a bit on the meagre side.
The vegan quandary could be an interesting experiment. Will they be prepared to die for their principles or will they tuck in to a bit of turkey and pigs in blankets?

//I rather like that and not to be ridiculed as it denotes to me discipline, personal care and self awareness, even at their tender age,//
Spot on, Sqad. I do like to see people nicely turned out. This is particularly so when going out to eat. Mrs NJ and I do not frequent black-tie establishments but we would always dress reasonably smartly (but casual) when we used to be allowed out for a meal. The proprietors and staff in the places we use do likewise. I see it as token of mutual respect. Unfortunately our attitude is not very prevalent.

//NJ, vegans and vegetarians don't live on leaf alone!//
I understand they live on plant material and it is that which is (we're told) destined to be in short supply. Anyway, there was no attempt at superiority. I'm far inferior to vegans; they have much more discipline and will power than me. I couldn't possibly exist on their diet and have no intention of trying.

We allways had to dress up when we were children to go shopping especially in department stores, C&As, Lewis's etc even Woolworths, and are parents were allways smart. Eating a sandwich or drinking coffee while walking and shopping was definately not the done thing. Mind you in those days on photos my uncles and grandpa wore a shirt and tie even when they took us on the beach
I'm just in from local butchers and loads of everything.
Also from the off-licence - no panic buying
And last of all my local greengrocers - everything great there.
I'm glad I've all in because I aint going anywhere on that road.
Oh I need caster sugar for my glittery pavlova. I'll get that about the doors.
