The wonderful surgeon who did my lung cancer operation at Guy's Hospital in December has told me I am now free of cancer, I don't need any further treatment and it won't return. I was so shocked and relieved and it's taken a while to sink in.
Apparently I am in the 2% of people who get this type of LC. I asked if my smoking many years ago had caused it and he said not, it was purely bad luck.
So, who's a lucky girl then? XXXXX

Without a doubt this is the best post I have ever seen on here, ladybirder, and the nicest shock you will ever have. Reading this has made my day and I don't know you! May your life be a long and happy one to be fully lived x

Thanks everyone, it is amazing and I realise I am very lucky, so many aren't as JJ says. I don't know how he can say another one won't appear either HIA and we didn't think to ask him at the time. At a guess it would be that nobody in the 2% of people where I belong has ever had it recur (so far). You can all have a drink on me this evening. Cheers!
Thank you Rowan I'll do my best. I have been left with the damage it has done of course which can't be taken away. So I am limited because I struggle for breath at the slightest exertion and I shall have to live with that. But, as some of you may remember, my rescue JRT had to be put to sleep last August and I want to replace him shortly. An older rescue would be ideal but picking one out of so many is hard. I'm looking at two presently, both having been in rescue since 2013. Isn't that awful?
