I called yesterday to pick up a prescription about 10.00 am. Receptionist said she had it but it wasn't signed by the doctor.

Told me to call back about 11.30am which I did. Receptionist couldn't find it and kept searching around her and said "I did get it signed".

Meanwhile while she was looking around her - doctor came and boiled herself some water for a drop of tea beside her. Receptionist is still looking hurriedly. Doctor said - print it out again and | will sign it again. Receptionist says "I probably gave it out".

I want to say more but await your replies.

The only time a scrip will be given to an outsider, in my surgery, is when the patient has signed a form issued by that surgery for a third party to collect it.

surgerys are over stretched by too many patients so mistakes will be made. My surgery have gone electronic so the prescription goes direct to your chosen pharmacy

If the doc hadn't given you another script, you'd still be there waiting for them to find the original - which may (or may not) turn up and they will probably throw it in the bin. I don't see a problem.

the receptionist did say - Oh I've probably given it to somebody else. Hope it doesn't get into the wrong hands.

When I go to the chemist to collect my prescription, they always ask for my address before handing it over. I'm sure they will do the same at every pharmacy.
Don't worry about it.

If someone is so desperate to try and fill in a prescription given to them by mistake and either pay for it or lie - then they will be responsible.

I wouldn't worry about it - mistakes happen.

Pretty sure that if that is the case, the person with the wrong script will immediately realise that their medication isn't what it should be. Still no problem and definitely no drama.

well when you see a guy coming out of a chemist (like outside the door) another shady guy waiting for him. Hands him money and the first guy gives him the pharmacy bag.

So my prescriptiion could have found its way into the wrong hands.

I am not worrying but if the shoe had been on the foot - my going in and asking for the same prescription I think would have prompted some argument
