Just wondered what your thoughts were on opening your front door if the bell goes.
I always go to the door cos i want to know who's there but you shouldn't have to.

My elderly Mum lives with her equally elderly sister. They were worried recently that the bell had gone 4 times the same day (i tell her not to answer as we all have keys and i worry for their safety). But she was getting nervy so i popped over.

At about 8.45pm it went again so i went out to see who it was, it turned out to be a lady from a 'boxed meal' Company, i asked her if she was the one who had kept calling, she said yes, i explained that my Mum does not always answer the door and why didnt she take the hint (this was the 5th time the same day) she just shrugged and said she had been told to keep calling until she got an answer.

I find this incredible that some Companies keep hassling like this, surely its your Choice if you want to open the door and speak to whoevers there.

Sorry, no real queston just annoyed.

I blame Brexit ( of course )
TonyV "woofgang smart ones record anybody entering your zone of recording." I know Tony but that still doesn't get you your expensive kit back and while the police have a photo of who dunnit, I can't imagine the police taking much trouble to find one itinerant ne'ere do well. If I went out to work or took holidays I might think it was worth the money; or if I had an aging reli to protect.
I haven't read all the thread yet... but many of ours have a sticker up which says something like "no cold callers and please do not return. Failure to do so is a criminal offence".
Some also have CCTV sticker, although they don't bother with the actual having a camera. I agree in this day and age and awareness of dementia, it really should not be allowed to sign people up at a doorway.
Failure to do what is a criminal offence?
I can't remember the exact wording, sorry hc. Failure to comply, I guess.
Hc, I can't seem to do links to Amazon from my phone, but have found it there. The end says
"please leave and do not return. Failure to do so is a criminal offence".
Thanks for that, pixie :)
You're welcome x if you look up cold call stickers on Amazon, there are a lot- and not expensive at all x
