I am not impressed by the public display of her charitable largesse. I do not think the children would be excited at a bunch of flowers. This was a preplanned and thought out way to show Ms Markle's generosity. Sorry! Not impressed.

Thank you for sharing that , there is a thread on the topic somewhere.

I would rather flowers were recirculated than dumped.

I am afraid that she is behaving like a Celebrity which I believe she thinks she is. She may have been somewhat of a celebrity in the USA some years back but she should have realised that modesty and dignity are what is now required of her. Providing an ice cream kiosk for the staff at Kensington Palace was so typical of her ostentatious behaviour and so totally inappropriate amongst other things!
Well, quite, - those below stairs have no time for such fripperies.
I thought that Amal, her friend had funded the party?
No need to be "Sorry", surely?
"Essex Girl."?
I do wish the public would stop verbally attacking Megan! Like Diana, Megan has a mind of her own and I for one say good on her.
I really don't think it bodes well..... being in the Royal Family is very different to being in the public eye as an actress..with different expectations and standards of behaviour.....
It's Meghan, not Megan. Actually it's Rachel.

And in my opinion Meghan of Sussex is no Catherine of Cambridge.

Such gestures are purely an attempt to garner adulation.

I am entitled to my opinion before anyone goes off on a rant.
She never will be a Catherine of Cambridge theres no comparison, she and Meghan (spelt it right this time lol) had completely different upbringings. Meghan is a thoughtful giving person and shouldnt be seen as a person attempting to 'garner adulation' for herself.
Don't see a problem in donating flowers so they can be enjoyed before ending up on the compost heap. As for royals, I don't take an interest in that anachronistic system, so have no idea if there's anything up with any of them.
The media seem to have changed their mind about her and are now finding anything to knock her down. I'm concerned she's going to get hounded like Diana. It will all end in tears. Not that I'm fond of her myself, she means nothing to me.
I'm sure that Meghan will be absolutely gutted that she has failed to impress you, Stargazer. And she speaks so highly of you, too. :-/
She brought in a charity that exists precisely to reuse flowers. She didn’t go handing them out to hospital patients like Lady Bountiful.
If her friends want to fund an ostentatious baby shower for her, then why shouldn’t they?
I see her as I see her, Pansy. I'm not going to be disingenuous simply to appease her adoring fans.

I've nothing against her per se, but I think she's quite false and I think Harry is just desperate to please his bride.
If people frown on "excess", then maybe they should blame those celebrity friends who planned the party. It was private, and didn't even take place in this country. I agree it comes across as OTT, but the bloodthirsty media just loves to sink its teeth into stories like this. It's food for them.
Baby showers are culturally relevant to her as she's American, her friends organised it, and in their scheme of things it wasn't a big deal because they are all vastly wealthy. What would you like her to do with the flowers, sling them in the trash? She'd have been thoughtless and wasteful if she's done that, if she gives them away, she's doing it to garner adulation. She can't win.
Cali.

"Baby showers are culturally relevant to her as she's American, her friends organised it,"

True, but when she married Harry, in the eyes of the British public, or many of them, she ceased to become American and became the Duchess of Sussex, a member of the Royal family and all that goes with that title.
I think the British people might be in for a bit of shock then Sqad, because I don't think Meghan gives a toss, she will fulfil her obligations as she sees fit and if people don't like it I imagine they'll have to lump it- she's not mentally unstable Princess Diana to be shoved around- she'll stand her ground, she's dealt with sharks all her adult life and she's not intimidated by them. Now whether it'd be healthier for her to be is another matter... but I don't think she's gives a damn.
