They do a lot of good work helping people who've hit rock bottom. But a lot of people who would like to help couldn't afford the £19
I thought that was for xmas dinner for a homeless person - crazy request
No, I wouldn't call any ad. At least they are relatively upfront, most claim they want £2-3 and you just know if you give them that they will bombard you for more - and sell on your details.
If you take the time to look at the appeal, you'll see that £19 is for a *family*... Including Christmas dinner and a small gift...(plus admin costs I'd imagine).

PS...at the drop in centre I work at we will be providing the meal for free....but the actual cost from crackers to pudding plus a gift box for each person is a fair sum.

Would I call it what?
What's the matter with you, have you no humanity?
I support them all year round, I think they do a great job,
you don't have to give £19, give what you can,
put up or shut up,
your choice!!!!!
I think £19 (approx £1.51 a month) isn't too much to give a poor family a decent Christmas. God knows they probably have a pretty crappy time the rest of the year.
Scrivens, you can call Samaritans any time. We're working on Christmas Day and New Years Day! Hope you don't need us though x
I have a monthly d/debit to the Salvation Army and have done for many years, ( I think they do a fabulous job, ) I don't drink / smoke etc., so I can afford to,...... spare a thought for the people who cannot afford to donate, lets all be nice to one another, at this Christmas time and all year round Happy Christmas everyone xx
It is a figure they are using to demonstrate what can be achieved.

They will not refuse to accept smaller donations or indeed larger.

I've checked the small print and nowhere can I see a clause that says they will send round the heavies if you give anything under £19.

You are a very confusing character TWR, on one hand you expect us all to help the less fortunate then throw your arms up when charities ask for help to do just that.
Now calm down and be cheerful, TWR....you know the £19 includes a good tot or two of Brandy......and where would you and I be if we couldn't toast the season of goodwill to all men (and women) with a glass of Brandy...xx

Gness, how the heck do you manage to reach TWR on his high horse to top up his brandy
I've probably lost more than 19 quid in change down the back of the couch over the last twelve months.

(On that note, I'm off for a rummage!)
Well trained men, Baldric....TWR tops up my Brandy.....☺

;o) x
Agree totally with baldric at 10:18, but still like you TWR !
They may well have tested this 'Ask' before, I can't recall.

Either way, they will monitor the net result against other amounts in other formats.

For your info Baldric, I will help anyone / anything / anytime, I will also donate what I THINK, What I do not like is charities putting myself and many others in a position that a person feels guilty that they can not afford that sort of money. Gness lol, get the bottle out, I'll bring a few of these with me. Merry Exmas all.

Thank you Viv, x
