Should both mine and Gromit's threads on the subject now be removed?

"struggling to put on his bathing trunks under a towel."

So a PM hasn't the nous to wear them in place of underpants until he reached the beach, thus avoiding the modesty struggle ? Exactly what is the intelligence level required to become a politician ?

Not just your ordinary politician, the PM no less.
It's worse than that, O_G. His background was in PR, wasn't it?

@AOG
no they should not be removed. Or, at least, can I have a chance to read them first?
Was it his feline that was spying for the Chinese? What type of person do we have running the country??
I have some sympathy with him. He says there was an agreement that if he gave them a photocall at the start of his holidays, they'd leave him in peace after that.

It appears he did pose for photos for them:

But they say either (a) there was no agreement or (b) there was but the photos were so boring we decided to break it. That doesn't seem to give them much moral high ground.

If his privacy is invaded like this, he'll do what Blair did: holiday on Berlusconi's yacht or in Sharm as a guest of Mubarak. And then the press will moan about him hobnobbing with dictators in order to keep some privacy.

They want it both ways. Do you think they should have it?
I love it when houses get upset !
Yeah, the sofa and dining chairs spill out onto the street :-)
the battles between pane and counterpane have to be seen...
So he's slightly overweight! It's not as if no one knew!
Come back Wayne and Waynetta Slob, all is forgiven!
What was the infatuation with seeing him in trunks at the beach? I'm pretty sure he uses the toilet as we all do and drinks and eats like normal people too. He's the prime minister not a personal trainer, he runs or takes part in running the country so maybe his body's not in tip top shape but his mind certainly is to have got to where he is today. Most people who hurled abuse about his physique seriously need to wear next to nothing and look in the mirror and ask themselves with all the spare time they have not running the country do they even look half as good as he does?

we all believe in free speech - after Miss Manning's case - even more !

but condign punishment.....[for lese majeste ]

what about being made to appear in an EDL march - Gromit will like that !

[ Its been done before as ever - Madame Mao was made to act in politically compromising films in the 1930s but managed to rebrand herself as a member and leader of the Gang of Four ]
The photos are now in the public domain so it is pointless trying to censor them now. We did not go into an agreement with the PM, so we should be free to comment on them. So no, our threads and posts should not be culled.

I feel a little sympathy for Cameron if he thought he had an agreement to avoid this kind of snap. But he was frolicing on a public beach so anyone could have taken photos and blogged them.

The British have a long standing tradition of laughing at their Prime Ministers. Surely Cameron knows that and shouldn't make a fuss.
I have every sympathy for Dave. What possible business is it of anybody to see him putting on his swimming trunks...surely there must be something more important in the news worth reporting ?

If you're going to do something like that in a public place, imo it's no different to posting something on a public forum,
you are fair game!
If it's OK to record and publicise Brown's private comments, then why shouldn't Cameron's image be exposed.

It's one of the prices of "fame".

In the words of another ex-Prime Minister, "If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen"

Just found this, may be more to the point

Didn't realise that Harry S. Truman was an ex-Prime Minister. :0)
