Things don't look too good in Egypt, especially when it could affect that all important international shipping route, The Suez Canal.

Hearing that the Unions in this country are soon to organise mass demonstrations against the Government's cuts made me wonder, France are not slow in taking to the streets, we have recently see the riots in Tunisia, and now the riots in Egypt.

Is it the ethnic identity of the peoples of these countries, that make them react so violently, and if so taking into account the alteration in our ethnicity due to the huge influx of foreign nations to this country, could the once easy laid back and tolerant attitude of the British people change?

Why does every problem have to be ethnically based?

What was the ethic cause of the Poll tax riots in this country?
Let's bloody hope so.
Are you suggesting that we ought to ship the Egyptians out of Egypt and replace them with less demonstrative people based on the erm.......British stiff upper lip model ?

You can't trust dem damn darkies..........even in their own countries !!

I think the majority of Egyptions in their bum-boats have too much to lose from passing shipping in the Suez Canal.

Rioting in Britain seems only to involve the young and the poll tax was the only event to stur up real hostility till the student riots recently. Maybe if we started to consume more olive oil and get under the heat lamps our genes may alter significantly.
so you are not interested in the causes behind the protests, just the colour of the protestors skin ?

I wonder why some of you have mentioned AOG jumping on skin colour? I dont believe he stated that in his OP. He does however mention the French, who are generally white European.
Tunisia and Egypt ??

No hidden agenda here, only a perfectly topical question, due to the recent violent riots in some countries.

So please can we have some intelligent answers?

Is it the ethnic build up of the peoples of these countries that makes them take to the streets, if so could the British attitude ever change, due to a change in our ethnic balance?

Or is it these countries corrupt politicians that makes the people riot, and how far would our politicians have to go before we turned equally violent?

Just thought provoking questions, nothing more.
"AOG jumping on skin colour"

lol, don't invent a new sport for him, f f s

How on earth have you linked this to race AOG? You could talk about culture quite happily on this subject and without having to stretch so far.

///Is it the ethnic identity of the peoples of these countries, that make them react so violently?//

No. It is because they're being pushed to extremes. Or, in the case of France, there is a strong belief that all should be equal - so injustice by the powers that be is swiftly and loudly noted.

///Could The British Attitude Change?///
It should, we could do with a bit more "taking to the streets". The established order of the ruling classes needs a little more shaking up.

///Could the once easy laid back and tolerant attitude of the British people change?///
No. Britain as proven very good at retaining its culture and absorbing the bits of other cultures it likes.

A question for you AOG, what are you worried about?

Spare Ed
Must take issue with you Ed. Although I generally disagree with most of OAG's opinions I think it is perfectly reasonable to question whether ethnicity plays a part in the public behaviour of people in other countries.
"it is perfectly reasonable to question whether ethnicity plays a part in the public behaviour of people in other countries"

what, asking why french people protest in frenchland and why tunisians protest in tunisia, or egyptians protest in egypt.... has some merit? ????? ?
Oh, so you think you're British/French/Egyptian because of your "blood" - not because, maybe, just maybe, that is the country where you live?
I'm certainly not Welsh just because I live here ...

ummmm

See you didn't mention France.

If one mentions a number of foreign countries, due to the law of averages, one is bound to pick some who's inhabitants have not got white faces.

Get real, these two riots took place in Tunisia and Egypt, these two countries inhabitants are predominately black, nothing that I or anyone else can do to disguise this fact.

You people are so hung up about colour, perhaps it would be best not to mention any news or events that are associated in countries where the people are black.

That makes the World a much smaller place.
