I can tell I'm getting old....

Yesterday at work whilst I was tidying the magazine area, one of those catalogues, fell out of one. Ya know the ones, filled with things like pinnies to protect your clothes, kaftans and lace doilies to protect your kitchen work surfaces. Now normally I'd throw them straight in the bin, but I took the time to flick through it, and was thoroughly disheartened to find myself occasionaly mutter "ooo, that's nice" and "Damn good idea" over some of the stuff.

Today, a Betterware mag got delivered, and i'm now doing exactly the same.

Is this it? Am I now doomed to one of those giant fleecy slippers (which sound really cozy!) huddled over the fire with a Slanket (again, good idea) doing the crosswords in a People's Friend mag (I do so hope they have a small catalogue in them if i do!).

oh dear...hopeless case white cardi from damart on its way....
Nothing wrong with fleecy slippers, sitting under a blanket when it's cold or doing crosswords (as long as it's not cryptic ones as they're too hard for my poor brain)... Perfectly normal behavour for any 31 year old on a Saturday afternoon.

One of the nurses I worked with knitted a blanket and booties for my doc who's due to have a baby next week and I did find myself looking at the blanket thinking how nice it would be if I could knit like that... <sigh>
B00, I have too found myself going through those and thinking "oh, that's a good idea".

I'm 26. :o(

Have you seen the fleece babygros for adults? With the slipper feet as well. I want one :-)
I knew I was getting old when I was stuck behind a slow moving caravan and instead of ranting, I found myself admiring the caravan

See? Impending old age creeping in CD!

A few years ago, you wouldn't have even gone out clubbing with a coat on, now look at ya, admiring cricheting blankets for God's sake!

Rowan- that cardi, is it a wooly one? I might be interested....
they have them in primark....the tiger striped one was selling well....
it's wearing a 'bed jacket' and hairnet you have to worry about BOO

critcheting??!!

Know what you mean Mrs O. I do the same, even to the point where I once remarked on a caravan, "I like those curtains!!"
Re the knitting thing. I found myself thinking the other day "how easy would it be to learn how to knit, then I could make a nice cardy".
' few years ago, you wouldn't have even gone out clubbing with a coat on'

^^^ HAve you met me?! I get cold in summer for goodness sake! I have never been cool enough to go clubbing without a coat!

(Although the recent development of looking at younger women without coats and thinking 'ooooh, she must be freezing, she really should have something on over that' is a tad worrying...)
Boo, you haven't mentioned the fear of smelling faintly of wee - a true sign of getting old

I'm now admiring a "Decorative Toilet Roll Holder" in said Betterware mag, thinking "that's really pretty".

Think i need to do something rebellious, like going out and mugging old ladies and kicking puppies or something, anything to avoid this inevitiable slide in wrinklydom!
I also made mincemeat and some nice beetroot chutney this week. I am turning into my grandmother.

I hope i don't turn into my grandma. She used to put tea towels down on her kitchen work surfaces to stop the surfaces getting dirty! I could never get through to her that it was easier to wipe the tops down than it was to wash the bloody towels.
I'm going to do something rebellious now - swap Ken Bruce for Radio 1

Mind you, I don't know how long I'll be able to stand it before shouting "bloody rubbish"
i love my slanket its the best thing ever!

Crikey, Radio 1? Don't think iv'e listened to that since about 1990? I'm a Radio 2 gal now. Oh and I've discovered a local radio station too, i like that.
bit of a slanket fan myself...also popular with students who don't want to waste beer money on heating apparently
