What ho , What ho , What ho , everyone

I understand that VW have widthdrawn their latest ad , because of some 600 complaints about the poor little shivering dog

Surely these do - gooders should be concerned about all the cruelty being done to animals and mammals
( seals for example ) around the globe - and not complaning about a trained dog in a brilliant advertisement - hey what .

And incidentally, you appear to believe that twiching elicits a pain avoidance response. The way that twiching works is by stimulating the release of endorphins in the horse's brain so they are able to cope with trauma / pain more readily.
Volkswagon would not be shocked to learn of any animal in distress. It was only since 1993 that the crash testing of live pigs, bears, monkeys, you name it, began to be phased out. Due to these bloody do gooders again.
