KM Links Game - August week 1

I shall make this short and sweet or "someone" will post at the same time and there will be a little confusion !!! on this site - never !!!!
The challenge is as always to match Kate's choices over the Saturday and Monday crosswords and though it looks easy on the surface, experience has proved it's anything but !!
However or inspite of, we all return each weekend to the same spot, to have another crack at it and shortly an early riser will kindly post the first words along with their own selection for us to ponder over.
Come Monday, as we all know by now, we repeat the ritual and then begins the weeping, wailing gnashing of teeth or alternately, a great deal of self-congratulations, etc even if it only amounts to one point - of course in the case of many points, the congrats come from far and wide and are well deserved - matching Kate at her own game is due much praise.
Ok must go, but will return shortly to watch the launch, so long as we don't get 'Houston, we have a problem...........
