Why?

Manchester's an awesome city and fully deserves it. I don't understand why most peopple believe that all good events, places etc should be based down Soufffff.
london has enough.
england has many other cities that would benefit from a bit of a boost.

just because its the capital doesn't mean there is nowhere else to visit
Im glad we didn't win it we have enough crime and homeless.
And empty Domes.
It wont be long before there is one there anyways. Manchester is an ace city, its not like it couldnt cope with it. Obviously there is a bucket load of things to attract people to London anyway, so why not let Manc have it. Theres loads of stuff to do up north, it will probs just help bring the tourists that way.
Should have been in Sheffield- if there has to be one- as the most centrally located of the runners and riders.
But the entire shebang is crazy- like lottery players can't find enough ways to lose money...
presumably the whole exercise is another way for a desperate Chancellor to tax more ....

as regards location ... thank goodnes the Advisory Panel seems to have made up its own mind .. and not been swayed by John 'In the sack / Croquet' Prescott on junkets to California .....

good luck to Manchester ... deserves an opportunity to build on the promotion of itself (following on from successful Commonwealth Games)

so .... the Dome - the Labour White Elephant will still go down as a Blair political legacy .... history will tell
Why do we have to have these things anyway, a sure path to muggings and house buglaries.

There are controlled casino's in every city.
We don't need them.
I think you are confusing me with someone who gives a damn.
Speaking as a Cardiffian, Im glad we we're not having it. There's already too much at Cardiff Bay as it is with, opera house's,theatre's,office's galore which still stand empty after at least 3 years of completion. State of the art high rise apartment's and so many restuaraunts, you name it,it's there! But try to park,no chance! Car's are parked on roadside verges as the main car park is alway's overflowing. To go to the complex, cinema's,bowling etc it now costs 9 for 4 hours. Now we're getting a sports complex. They say it's good for employment yet every modern pub, brasserie, pizza parlour, etc see the staff just standing around looking bored. Seems people like the old pubs! Manchester you're welcome to the casino.
