Can anyone tell me why I keep hearing people referring to nuclear weapons as newkiller weapons, as it's driving me insane. Also, why did the sixth of the month become the sicth of the month for a while?

better than nucular and the all time classic 'minellium'.

I've always heard it as 'nucular', too, but I like your 'new-killer' idea better, Carlos. It's just one of those language lazinesses, such as 'Febuary' (with no 'r' at letter 4) or 'vunrable' for 'vulnerable' . These things always remind me of an episode of The Simpsons in which Lisa was driven mad by her mother, who insisted on saying 'foilage' instead of 'foliage'.
Well, in Nothamptonshire, they pronounce computers, as 'compooters'. And in Ireland a three is a 'tree'. 'Vive le difference' or is it 'Viva la difference'
in suffolk we watch sky "DIGI-CALL"
And two days ago it was Wensday (or Wensdee in Northampton ABsolution).
ouch ive been edited! I grew up in Northampton worse luck and it has the laziest most unpleasant use of the language Ive come across. Theres also an odd place in northants called Cogenhoe and its pronounce Cook-now.
"New killer weapons" makes sense, actually!

comloulou - my parents used to drive to Cogenhoe most Saturday nights to meet their friends and as a youngster it used to frustrate me no end that they couldn't give me an explanation for this anomaly. Agree with you on the laziness - I hope I've lost my accent as I've aged!

RCP! a kindred spirit. I got bullied in Northampton because I originated in Milton Keynes and there was no discernable accent at all. Im in Kent now and a bit more relaxed about kentisms!
