I searched the net for the correct pronunciation of 'Beaulieu', Pricilla Presley's maiden name - I am presenting a Cruise Talk about Elvis and I need my pronunciations to be accurate.

I got the pronunciation I needed, but have a listen to the guy who gave it to me!

Does anyone seriously talk like this in real life???????

Sounds like a computer generated voice to me, not up to the standards of Alexa and Siri
It's pronounced 'byoo-lee'.

bookbinder - I'm not so sure.

I heard a clip of Elvis saying it, and he pronounced it "Bowlew" which is something like Mr Alien said it was pronounced in French.

And if that 'guy' is a computer - why did they make him sound as though English is his second language - his first being Martian!!!!
arent we lucky to have fluent francophiles on AB?
Bewley is the usual pronunciation
I don’t know how Americans pronounce it but the English pronounce it as bookbinder says.
Yes, there's the "real" French way, the nativized British English way...but also (possibly a few) American English versions!
Andy - if you google 'how to pronounce Priscilla Beaulieu' there is a video of Elvis saying it and it's totally different . Sorry I can't post it
Lady Beauchamp, the late occupier of Madresfield Court, was known as Lady 'Beecham'. She herself was Danish and I don't remember how she pronounced it, in fact I don't think she ever needed to pronounce it any more than the late Queen had to explain who she was.
Most folk round here call it Bulee. As in the station and Motor museum.

I'm inclined towards the French pronunciation, since that is how I have heard Elvis say it.
I guess you could give both pronunciations and explain

Margo - // I guess you could give both pronunciations and explain //

I hadn't thought of that, wonderful idea, thank you!
You're welcome and thank you :-)
Bewley is the usual pronunciation - - - in English

remember in the Land of the free - there is a uni called berkeley and not Barkley - so left wing in the 70s it was nicknamed Berserkly

and the singer Dionne War-wick
and if you want the english pronunciation then you spell it Warrick

Featherstonhaugh ( Fanshawe) is pronounced as it looks in Oireland

Haha Margo...I didn't see the Elvis pronunciation...I went straight to the one at the top of the page.
He has done a lot of these pronunciation videos and he sounds French to me.
I would pronounce it Boo-lay.
