Now I know that we must have ethnic diversity in news readers but how did this woman pass a screen test? She can't pronounce "L", says "De" instead of "the" and stumbles over sentences all the time, just waiting to see if she says "aks"! What happened to quality, like Clive Myrie, Trevor McDonut and Moira Stewart for example?

You can't dig yourself out of the hole you've put yourself in

Question Author

I have not dug a hole, others have for themselves. They've tried to turn this into a race issue, they have deliberately mis represented what I said, they have tried various obfuscation techniques, they have all failed but they'll try anything rather than acknowledge the truth that I was putting out there. So instead they attack the messenger.

We only have your word though Tora of your perfect dialect and no accent.

Why not prove it?

15:18 another hissy fit so soon?

Question Author

15:14 it's not aout me though is it, I'm not reading the news to millions of BBC viewers am I?

No but you continue to put yourself up as perfection personified.

why not prove it?

Question Author

redhelen: "No but you continue to put yourself up as perfection personified. why not prove it?" - I've never said anything of the sort but we both know that any sort of demostration would not be honestly evaluated. This is an anonymous Q&A site, what do you expect me to do?

It's happened again.
Toodle pip, I'm outta here.

Well that was a short sabbatical JR!

Put a video up of your numerous appearances on TV.

You are so keen on judging others, why not be judged?

Question Author

As I have said before RH, I value my annonymity more than the ned to impress contrarian strangers on the net.

Tora @ 15:02

You didn't put any "truth" out there, you put an opinion. One which a majority on here disagreed with.

Question Author

15:47, not true Mozz, they said they could understand her, so can I but the main point is that a news reader on the BBC should not be hard work to understand. The usual suspects on here just want to shoot the messenger and/or deliberately miss the point.

TTT, she's not hard work to understand.  I honestly don't know what you're going on about.  She speaks clearly enough for anyone to understand .... unless they're stone deaf.

^saying that, it's just occurred to me ..... could you possibly have a hearing problem you're unaware of, TTT?  Maybe you should get it checked out.

Question Author

Did you know Imran Kahn was "Jelled" - sounds like some sort of confectionary process.

I agree with Naomi, who I'm sure will admit that it's a rarity. She isn't difficult to understand. Sometimes Tora, surely even you have to wonder if you might be wrong.

Question Author

No I have excellent hearing. Err indoors is always asking me to turn the volume up on the TV because she can't hear!

Question Author

16:02: "She isn't difficult to understand. Sometimes Tora, surely even you have to wonder if you might be wrong." - neither is Rab C Nesbit but you would not have him reading the news. I am not wrong, you seem determined to ignore the point. A major broadcaster should have a proper news reader with proper diction that's all I'm saying.
