Have you caught Hymie disease?

Sorry, couldnt resist 🤣

Question Author

well I thought it was a nice suppliment to gullivers post the other day.

I meant all the Youtubes.

Who is it, Boris or the Orange one?

And there he is, Hymie you want/expect people to view your youtubes so watch TTT's and find out.

As a pacifist, I can find nothing wrong with what he says.

He is a man of peace.  He is willing to sit down with the enemy and try and find solutions.

A ceasefire would be a good start in any attempt to stop them continuing to kill each other.

I think the statement he is referring to in this clip was excellent. he said nothing wrong.

Well as a pacifist, you wouldn't.

But "peace" is much more than the absence of war.  Corbyn says "peace good, fighting bad". And no one disagrees. The problem is that he has no clue how to apply that practically. We had the same nonsense from him and others with Russia's war on Ukraine.

 ichkeria,

We can't expect him to know how to stop wars.  Nobody else knows.

Most wars seem to be about religion or the love of power.  I was not going to be my usual sexist self - but men usually start wars.

The world is a truly scary place.

He shouldn't warble on about peace if he has no idea how to bring it about. Otherwise it is just hot air.

He also, however, in that short video, called for an end to the occupation of Palestine, which taken on its own sounds very much like the one-state "solution" favoured by Hamas, whom he seems to support. And Hamas are not that peaceful.

He is a well known Hamas supporter. According to Corbyn, Hamas are "friends".  This point is not worth arguing over because it doesn't s a fact he said it. I've seen him say as, I'm sure, have many others.

With every fibre of my being I can't stand Corbyn - he is a total (insert here the worst swear word there is).

I did not type "it doesn't" that should read "it's a fact".

I can't stand predictive text. Why the hell would it change what I wrote into something that then doesn't make any bloody sense?

Wolf, he's a man of peace but he's friends with those who aren't men of peace and never will be.  I don't know if he really doesn't understand that or if he's just in denial.  You can't have peace with people who don't want it.  Personally, I think he's an idiot - and that's being kind.

then we shall have to agree to disagree!

How do you make peace with people who don't want peace?  If you know the answer to that, wolf, you'll be doing the world a great service.  Idealism is a wonderful thing but it doesn't work in the real world.

I tend to agree with naomi. It's the reason I doubt whether he is actually antisemitic: I doubt if he even could spell the word. But his associations led him to turn a blind eye to actual antisemitism. I'd say he is an opponent of Zionism, which while not the same thing is hugely problematic given Israel has now existed for 70-odd years,

I agree, ich.  I'm willing to bet that if most of us here could wave a magic wand and bring instant peace to this world we would do it without hesitation.

wolf: "As a pacifist, I can find nothing wrong in what he says" - Well leaving aside that pacifism is a primary cause of war for the moment he does not condemn the attrocities of Hamas, thus he at least tacitly agrees with them. He also has form in attending terrorist funerals etc. The man's a disgrace.

A ceasefire will not bring peace because Hamas is dedicated to the complete destruction of Israel & the Israelis, all it will do is give the Hamas leaders time to escape detection, regroup, and attack again.

It was they who unleashed the dogs of war, and now must go where it takes them.

It is regrettable that there have been, & will be more, civilian casualties, but these are the civilians who elected Hamas to govern them, knowing full well of their agenda.
