Yes, I saw that item.  Bang goes any credibility he was building up.

I said the other day he thinks he's making the right noises - and then finds out he's making the wrong ones.

His gesture doesn't seem to have done him much good with the people he's trying to impress.

//Labour councillors on two councils have called on Sir Keir Starmer to step down as the party leader for refusing to back a ceasefire in Gaza.

Burnley Council leader Afrasiab Anwar and Asjad Mahmood, who is the leader of Pendle Borough Council, said they were making the call on behalf of Labour councillors in their areas.//

Labour, the Party that just keeps giving

Yeah, giving us crap alternative political leaders.

The vast majority of the allies fighting force in Burma in WW2 were Indian troops, especially at Kohima. The poppy is meant to remember ALL the fallen.

Uh ho, we had Michael Foot in his donkey jacket at the Cenotaph, Coryn refusing to sing the national anthem, now Starmer the poppy-remover- what is it with these people?

//Burnley Council leader Afrasiab Anwar and Asjad Mahmood//

There's a couple of good old English names!  🙄

Clarion, //The poppy is meant to remember ALL the fallen.//

No one has suggested otherwise.

worra foo-foo - bing bang walla!

There has been positive support for Muslims for Remembrance Day from the community, and Rehman says they are seeing more volunteers wanting to participate. He says veterans are also thankful of the campaign. “They appreciate it in the sense that we are not forgotten,” Rehman said.4 Nov 2022

which rather implies there are others who dont

that is - it is moot ( English meaning) -

Muslims dont really DO prayers for the dead

//Muslims dont really DO prayers for the dead//

Yes they do.

no they dont.... so

Yes ... they do.

I worked closely with a guy who was also an Imam a few years back.  He always wore a poppy so I really dont understand where SKS is coming from with this.

Labour do their best to hide their tru 5C credentials but the facade slips on occasion. Especially when support for their country v support for terrorist scum comes up. Tricky choice.

Do you remember that once upon a time one might expect Burnley councillors to bear names such as Jack Arkwright or maybe Tom Broadbent ?

There's an agenda going on here right across the land, (& the EU) to enter all of the institutions of influence & power. It's a kind of twisted Democracy; a Muslim puts him, or less commonly, herself forward for office and the entire Muslim community vote for them & there's no real contest.

Erdogan has said, "Democracy it like a bus, you get on it to get to your destination & then you get off.

I suggest these councillors don't want a cease-fire for humanitarian reasons, they want it because it would be an advantage for Hamas.

Oh well I guess that's the election  decided then 😀

Snead at 08.24 - In the interests of fair play - Mr Foot was not wearing a donkey jacket that day.

It was a fairly expensive 'car coat' as they were called at the time, and it was from Harrods.

The press inaccurately called it a 'donkey jacket' to demean Mr Foot, and the inaccuracy has stuck to the story from then to now.

Fair enough, Andy.  Call it what you like, it was a green coat and  it didn't go down well with the public.  No doubt there was an excuse for Corbyn not singing the anthem, and an excuse for Starmer removing his poppy.  But gestures matter. And sometimes for the wrong reasons.
