With "Well over 7,000 immigrants arriving on the small island in the past 5 days" alone, are we as a generation, witnessing the death of Europe?

swamped is okay to me but has been criticised when used before.... now flooded would of been insensitive .... but maybe overrun or invaded would be okay

> virtue signalling: the public expression of opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or social conscience or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.

Virtue signalling cuts both ways, you know ... saying that somebody is virtue signalling is, in itself, an example of virtue signalling, even if you were wrong about the original virtue signalling in the first place!

As I said we shouldn't be expected to change language simply because a disaster has occurred.  Yes, what's happened in Libya is utterly tragic - and worse - but swamped - and flooded - are normal everyday words that we use to describe whatever they apply to.  This constant eggshell-treading gets silly.  People will be afraid to breathe soon lest they do it the wrong way.  You avoid those words if you like, ellipsis, but don't expect everyone else to.

Khandro, where have I said the the situation with illegal immigrants is 'because of' colonialism? I'll save you some time reading back through my posts and tell you that I never have said anything remotely like that.
what I'm saying is, many European country and their inhabitants making a song and dance about being 'invaded' or 'swamped' are, given their histories, are being hippocritical.

Sorry, an 'are' to many there.

*too

Zacs-Master; //Khandro, where have I said the the situation with illegal immigrants is 'because of' colonialism? I'll save you some time reading back through my posts and tell you that I never have said anything remotely like that. //

WEll I did and t seems to me and no doubt it would to others that there is a very clear link to colonialism in you post of Sunday;

//Khandro, just because Europe pre dates our invasion and plundering of resources in colonial times doesn't mean it didn't happen. It's a classic case of NIMBYism to start shouting 'go away, go away' given our plundering of other countries for their manpower and resources.!!

And where in their history have the peoples (6,000 now less in the past) of Lampedusa plundered other countries for their manpower and resources ?

There is no chain of logic in your argument, Khandro.
1. The link to colonialism is the irony between us not wanting illegal immigrants to 'swamp' us when we've plundered many many countries and done exactly that to them.
2. I have no idea why you're talking about the people of Lampedusa, an Italian island, plundering other countries. I certainly haven't mentioned it.

^^ Perhaps you do not understand what the OP and the thread is about? It is about  the small 20km square island suffering the inflow of 7,000 illegal migrants in the space of 5 days, all largely uneducated young males who you claim,  "pay-back time" is because of the invasion and plundering of resources of their country in colonial times.

How naive can you get?

Well, Lampedusa is part of Italy, and Italy did have colonies (and I'm not talking about 2000 years ago) ...

Ellipsis; I can give you a list of European colonies as long as your arm ;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_former_European_colonies

but that has nothing at all to do with large-scale illegal immigration.

' you claim,  "pay-back time" is because of the invasion and plundering of resources of their country in colonial times'

once again I haven't said anything of the kind. I haven't mentioned their country/ies. It's much simpler than that.......we're all saying 'no no no, go away, you can't come here' when, between us (European countries) in the past we've colonised dozens of nations, subdjugated their people and taken their resources for our own ends.

I hope you understand now as I'm become a little tired of explaining this to you.

Just to add, for clarification, if one of the countries the illegal immigrants are coming from happened to be one Europeans have invaded or colonised, or both, that would be doubly hypocritical.

What happened to the horse?

Question Author

Zacs-Master, I didn't realise that you were not only the spokesperson for AnswerBank but for all the European countries as well!

It's all very simple for the self-flaggelating woke; all you need do is blame the white-man's past colonization in Africa for the millions of illegal immigrants flocking in to Europe.

No Khandro, FGS.....no. I'm not blaming the colonisation for the influx of illegal immigrants. I've now told you this at least 3 times in slightly different formats.
for the last time, I merely wish to point out the irony and hippocrasy of nations crying 'go away, go away' who've previously 'conquered' many-a-nation.
Please take a second read what I'm actually writing and not what your strange imagination thinks I am.

Dougie, dear chap, the horse is being well and truly flogged.
