Made by Enoch Powell ,very controversial for its time but a lot of it is happening with no controlled immigration nor any government in power or opposition ,willing to tackle it ,it’s seen as a poison chalice

I understand you completely, AH.
naomi - //
By the way, you seem rather fond of Enid Blyton, AH, but don’t you think it might be time for you to move on to more grown up stuff? //

Not as fond as you - I am not the one who uses her prissy out-dated phrases to look down on other AB'ers or their opinions.

It is you who nbeeds to move on to 'more grown up stuff' as you put it.

A good start would be reading posts and commenting on them as they are, not altering them to make them say something they didn't in order to belittle someone else's viewpoint.

naomi - // I understand you completely, AH. //

Then maybe you can start looking at, and taking in what I am posting, instead of being rude about my views, and sidestepping your errors.
Moving on ….
// Moving on...// is Naomi's way of ducking out of being found in error, and unwilling to concede it, and saying we'll all pretend it never happened...

'Understanding' cuts both ways ...
Wrong, AH. It’s Naomi’s way of attempting to discourage you from ruining yet another thread by boring the reader to tears - yet again - with another of your lengthy and bad tempered, Naomi-bashing rants. It’s no skin off my nose - but I feel sorry for others who have to suffer it.

Moving on ….
Yawn - I met the man once, at my business school, a very erudite and impressive man that he was. One may differ on one's conclusion of what he said but that speech was thought through, deliberate, thought-provoking and delivered with his aplomb. It's still relevant and worth debating.
Naomi - Interesting how pointing out your errors and watching you avoiding admitting you are wrong suddenly morphs into a 'Naomi bashing' pity party.

Your posts are there, I have nothing further to add, but your unwillingness simply to admit you are adding to posts words which were simply not there in order to have a go at me (Andy bashing!!! Sob!!!!!), does you no credit.
DTC - I think Mr Powell had many admirable qualities, sadly, accurate prophesies based on his racial prejudices were not among them.
^^ ^^
In your humble opinion.
Fripfrip - My opinions are many things - humble has never been, and never will be one of them.
just admit you lost and naomi shot you down in flames .
Fripfrip - that would be tricky, since the reverse is true.

Re-read the thread if you need your memory refreshed.
For all Andy's bluster and lofty name-calling, Powell's speech stands. You may disagree with Enoch, that's your right; but the fact remains that history has proved him completely right, and his words are indeed prophetic. Attempts at multiculturalism have failed, and the determination of some immigrants to completely ignore British values and culture has only increased division. Attempts to quote out-of-context snippets of his excellent speech only serve to underline the stubborn ignorance of those proved wrong.
Spungle - Enoch Powell prophesied a majority of West Indian and Caribbean immigrants effectively subsuming the indigenous population.

That did not happen.

Therefore his prophesy was wrong.

That's a simple fact, whether you and others wish to acknowledge it or not, it remains a fact.
Let's have the actual quote, Andy.
SO true Spungle.
Spangle- The whole speech is Powell's prophesy, and there is a link on the thread if you need it.

He specifically refers to Afro-Caribbean and West Indian immigrants, referring to their children as 'picaninnies'.
Isn't it about time this thread was closed?
Just a thought.
Tomus - Not sure why you would think that. Opinions are still being exchanged, and all threads naturally run out of steam eventually.
