Of course it should be discuss, we are living with the consequences.
The 1975 referendum didn’t stop people discussing our membership, and campaigning against it.
of those who say "rejoin", how many actually mean "rewind"?

the latter is impossible. any move to join now would mean a situation very different to pre-2016; how many "rejoiners" would be OK with the Euro, and other requirements of the Copenhagen criteria?
Please god, no.
Even the remoaners would baulk at the likely conditions to rejoin even of we wanted to. Non starter. The EUSSR will likely implode within a generation anyway. It's an anti democratic amorphous mass that will collapse once the members realise what's happening.
Some people just can't move forward.
All the rebates, opt out clauses, etc that TGL fought for have been thrown away.

Rejoining would be on different tel
..terms completely.
No. This is *NOT* the EU. This is a democratic nation. And losers of a vote are not allowed to demand further votes hoping eventually to get a different result. That's the sort of filthy trick only the immoral support.
Nonsense OG.

Democracy means repeating votes on contentious issues at regular intervals. That's why we have a general election every 5 years.
In fairness I answered the title, which mentioned a Brexit referendum. Not about discussion of Brexit in threads/posts, which is a different issue.

No one is stopping folk discussing, but thread starters need to know they show themselves in an utterly appalling light to be still remoaning. In public too ! They really need the maturity to move on.
A GE is not a single issue. It's a decision of who we let represent us. A totally different thing altogether.

Yes a subject can be returned to after a suitable time, so come back and discuss it in, say, another 30 years or more.
tomus, a GE is hardly comparable to a once in a generation vote on a fundamental aspect of the nations existence. Can you imagine the Chaos if we had an EUSSR membership vote every 5 years!
I didn't say we should. I said regular intervals. If in 20 years or whatever there's demand for another vote on this, Scottish independence, or anything else, it should happen. That is democracy, not OGs idea of it which is wait til we get the result I agree with and then stick with it forever.
Not reading my posts are you.
To be fair OG, no I wasn't. I missed that last one of yours. Apologies.
Brexiters spent decades moaning about Britain having joined in the first place (they enforce straight bananas, you know!). I don't see why remainers shouldn't have the same right.
Can any one on here see a new EU referendum anytime soon?I cant. The same with a new Scottish independence referendum.Neither will happen for a long time.
I hold the unpopular view that there should never have been a referendum on whether we should stay or go in the first place, because we elect people to represent us so
they should have made the decision.

However…

A referendum was called and leave won. I didn’t, and still don’t, like the result, but democracy won, so in my view people who are still whining like spoilt girls only agree with democracy when it goes in their favour.
Well, the OP was about whether or not we should have a new Referendum about whether or not Brexit should still be discussed. That would be highly divisive in my opinion and open up old wounds. It's over and done with.
Any discussion should now be about how to move forwards.
Unfortunately some elements still want to harp on with cloud 9 wishfulness.
There is no going back. That was made clear. Forget the referendum, it is no longer a question.
The decision to leave the EU was taken by the people of the UK by a democratic vote. Whether this was the right or wrong decision should not be the subject for discussion, what should be the discussion is how do we move forward. Forget all about what was promised, what was said and what could have been, and concentrate on how we make the best of no longer being a member of the EU. Those who continually harp about us leaving, and I am not just talking about contributors to these pages, but to those in the public eye, for every moan about us leaving is ammunition for the EU to further make live difficult for the residents of the UK, as the recent problems at Dover have highlighted. While the EU have UK residents moaning about us leaving, so the EU will exploit this to further punish us.
We have left! We are not going to have a second referendum! so it is time for remainers and leavers to join together and help make this country great again.
