Last three episodes begin on Sunday, I'm very much looking forward to it but am sad there will be no more.
I was sceptical at the start, thinking it could never live up to Morse and the great John Thaw but I was proven wrong.
Hope there will be another long running crime drama of the same quality to replace it,

I too am sorry there won't be any further episodes. It has been a superb series.
Will Thursday's daughter Joan end up with Strange? It was looking promising at the end of Series 8, she certainly won't end up with Endeavour!
I'm really looking forward to the new Series but so sad it's finishing.

I appreciate the way they've developed the other characters and their back stories from the start
I think i once read that they would only do as many episodes as there were of 'Morse' out of respect for the late John Thaw.
Question Author
33 episodes of Morse and 36 episodes of Endeavour but I do recall reading the same.
It'll be interesting to see how they remove Thursday from Morse's history.
Question Author
I hope they don’t kill him off! Roger Allam said in The Express, “We're going to try and provide a satisfying and satisfactory emotional reason why John Thaw's Morse never mentions a man called Fred Thursday.

“I hope that's satisfying for fans.”
Got mixed up, Barry. It was 'Lewis' which had 33 episodes. Which makes a tad more sense given Kevin Whately's connection with John Thaw. Stopping at 33 may even have been due to his influence?
Perhaps if they do kill Thursday off, one scenario could be that his death is in some way due to a mistake by Morse. One which he is so ashamed of and one which drives him on to become the copper he was?
Next spin-off. Son of morse!
Question Author
Ah! Course it was Lewis, we were both confused

I think you're on the right track with the ending
I'm looking forward to this :-)
Sorry. I really enjoyed it and glad of the little repris at the beginning but I didn’t understand about the man who was killed and his mother who he was looking for. Please can someone explain? Thanks

I haven't watched it yet, Kustard
Was really excited Barry cos can always rely on you!!!! My post won’t spoil the programme for you. Just watch it carefully then maybe you can enlighten me!!!!!
Question Author
I have now watched it but am not aware of a dead man looking for his mother, Kustard.
Now I am confused
Please tell me I haven't got dementia Barry!!! Did I dream it? At the beginning a man was found dead in the garden of that concert place. They traced him by his expensive shoes and found a card for a private detective in his flat. The private detective knew him by a different name and said he'd hired him to trace his mother who had walked out on the family years earlier. She had been sending letters to a friend but they had stopped. She was working somewhere which seemed to be significant but I didn't understand why. Are you any wiser now?
Question Author
Thanks, Kustard, I remember the dead man, the shoe, the private detective but I completely missed the bit about tracing his mother.

The two outstanding murders will carry over in to the next episode so hopefully it will all be cleared up.

I have a feeling the dead informant will be linked to Thursday in a bad way and will explain why Morse never refers to him again.
Yes Barry. I think they must be ongoing too. I have a feeling the informant might be something to do with the time that Thursday gave all his money to his brother to pay a debt and his wife was going to leave him
Question Author
Oh yes! Well remembered
