I blame the family for not offering to contribute
I bet she votes Conservative. Very enterprising.
more likely her family voted Conservative and never thought of even helping wash up afterwards. Too busy putting themselves in charge of party games

Here's another way :-)

Also have a £1 e.w. acca on with the same 4 nags with Sky for a possible £6,232 return, so quite happily settled with 365 for the £510 :-)

4th horse (Sputnoik) came 3rd so there's another £44 to add to my returns.

£554 for a £5 stake :-)))

yup
we are in lock-step this week hoppie.

BUT - - how did it get into the papers ?
When my sister has come for previous Christmases she has always offered to contribute financially. I always said No, of course.

The woman in the article is a bit tight for asking the grandchildren for money, but nothing wrong with asking the adults to help if money is scarce.
If the same person hosts Christmas dinner every year it is only fair for others to contribute. When we 'all went to Mother's' she would bake the Christmas cake and pudding but one of us would provide the turkey, another the beef, and we would all take bottles of wine, spirits, liqueurs etc.
Not sure how I feel about the demands for payment but I can understand it. I think I'd happily to pay up to dodge hosting the event myself. Could I ask for a doggy bag to tide us over Boxing Day?
