Fifa must have known about this before now, but of course it wouldn't do to say anything that might adversely affect ticket sales. What a complete shower of sheeite.

It's not beer though, it's Budweiser.
In other news, Tora posts a link from The Guardian and immediately doubts himself. :-P
this was probably the plan from the beginning - play along to start with then force a rule change at the 11th hour when there's no time to challenge or debate it.

If their law is no alcohol then there should be no alcohol, even if it is the world cup. FIFA shoulda known that.
Question Author
consumption of alcohol is not illegal in Qatar.
i saw in an interview with a Qatari official that three areas specially for fans to drink we going to be available
defiantly not in the street .resect other countries laws no matter how harsh we in europe
harsh we in Europe see them
but at £12 a pint !!!!

"but at £12 a pint !!!! " - yes I think that would discourage many! You're not wrong johnny!
they'll still be able to drink Bud Zero, so problem solved.
This is only one, minor, reason why this whole world cup is a debacle.
Cant say that I am surprised, and can the average punter drink alcohol in UK stadiums?

//They'll be stopping Gays holding hands next!//

Apparently not, but I wouldn't trust them not to be flushing them out as they would see it. I cant see many Gays going to such a country in the first place though.
Going to interesting on the contractual side.

Bud have a contract to flog their pee I'm guessing with FIFA so maybe FIFA will have to hand back some cash. That'll teach them for putting it there.
Well if the WC being in Qatar sees drunkeness eliminated from the "fanbase" it won't be a total disaster.

What a complete shower of sheeite.
Now announced that there won't be any alcohol served in the grounds.
