Online BBC news states costing the country 7m per day to house these people!! 7million that could be used to help with the needs of the British people ie. Hospitals, Housing, The care system, etc. It seems to just get worse. We need to start getting tough.
Maybe the thought of being sent to Rwanda is too tempting
I bet if we hadn't been stymied in that proposal, they'd have stopped coming. I guarantee none of them want to end up back in Africa .... or even visiting for the first time.
Maybe we should treat it like we now do with covid, and give up counting them. Then miraculously the figures start to look better.
I'm delighted that our country is so admired that people risk life and limb just to get here. Perhaps we could send a load of 5C to France, at least the migrants want to be here.

Sharon I agree, the boats should be turned back and towed back to France till they get the message ,also all legal aid should be halted so the lawyers acting for them won’t be so keen , apparently the Home Office are deciding whether or not to put them in places like Premier Inns among paying guests !
The problem is are they truly asylum seekers fleeing for their lives or economic migrants looking for social and financial assistance. I think that until their status has been determined they should be held in secure facilities and not placed in hotels when they can then leave freely and then become lost to being sent home
cal - NONE of them are fleeing for their life, they're coming from France, a safe country.
People scoffed at my idea of sinking dinghies mid-channel & placing machine guns on the beaches. I told you so!
I'm not getting your use of past tense, davebro.

The latest figures show that almost 80% are Albanian 20 somethings ,sorry I haven’t a link for that,it was said by a Talk TV presenter
Davebro, I didn't scoff at your idea. I am all for it with a few hand grenades being lobbed too.
The EU must do something to stop them entering Europe in the first place before they even get to France.
It doesn’t matter how much we pay the French Government, they are never going to stop them crossing the channel. Imagine the trade in dinghies and life jackets that’s going on in front of their eyes. We need to patrol our waters properly now, to prevent the invasion as we would if it were hostile.
Wonder which of these boats , the next Conservative PM is on.
france has a huge coastline, illegals would up sticks and try somewhere else, magical chairs springs to mind.
