//Crikey - there’s serious speculation about Johnson.

That’d give Fatticus and his mate Gulliver material forever.

Personally, I don’t have the faintest idea who it should be - it’s become an absolute farce.//

Nothing serious about it, all the journos etc know he is far too divisive even now. Their credibility is unbelievably low, it’ll plunge to absolute zero if he’s even on the list.

//I was 25 hours out saying that the ghastly Truss would resign. Here's what's going to happen. Boris Johnson will be PM again within the next eight days.//

PMSL, Nurse!
Fatt: You may want to reflect on the fact that you are not the British people. As for Mordaunt, she's a proven liar and wouldn't last a day.
He won't stand but I'm impressed by Graham Brady.
So there’ll be a maximum of three candidates.
There may only be one or two of course …
This time last year (during the Conservative Party conference0 the talk was of Boris leading the party (Tories, not birthday knees up) for another decade. If he can win MPs over, which won't be easy...it'll be the biggest political comeback ever.

Literally anything could happen right now.

But what if he comes back and he's still 'Boris-y'? We can't have yet another leadership contest.
If he does come back he will be ‘Boris-y’ because Boris is who he is - but if they don’t stop all the pettiness and get behind him properly this time they’re finished. They won’t get any more chances.

Indeed I’m not…..but maybe you’d like to take a look around at all the polls etc and gauge the mood of the public?
As for Mordaunt I’ve no idea if she is a liar or not, your words not mine.
I said Tugendhat was the best candidate months ago because he would have gone 180 degrees in the opposite direction to Johnson.
Had their chance and they blew it, now it’s utter chaos and farce.
I suspect the 100 MP threshold will do for Johnson.
But also isn’t there some standards enquiry pending? They’d be insane to bring him back with that hanging over him
Hopefully someone somewhere will see sense and put the country above petty spite. It’ll be the first time for a while.

Absolutely! Not the bankers, not the hedge fund managers, not the oil/energy company CEO’s and not the 1% mega-rich.
I wonder who could have a crack at that with honesty and credibility?
Mordaunt it was who claimed the UK would not be able to stop Turkey joining the EU. This was untrue. She repeated it earlier this year.
But it is true. As a non-member we have no say as to whether Turkey takes our old position.
The Beep Beep See is taking is serious ... they are already in panic mode and conducting a "get your retaliation in first" session. They know that if Boris gets a chance then they are looking for advertisement revenue instead of spending £millions of our money bigging themselves up with no one asking who sanctions the self promotion.
she was repeating the earlier claim: that when Britain was a member it would not have been able to stand in Turkey's way.
//The BBC are already in panic mode//

Aren’t they just!
Rishi or Boris.
I've just heard that party members will be offered a vote. Sorry if I've missed someone else saying this earlier, but t.b.h. I doubt if they'll get a chance to vote for Boris. it seems that the MPs will once again just put forward 2 candidates. I can't see them pushing Boris through.
I don't think the men in grey suits will organise the rules for choosing the new leader in such a way that Johnson has a real chance of winning. Despite the wishes of his old fans, I think that they know him better than us, and that they don't want an even bigger disaster. Just my opinions, of course.
